Template Training

SI Template Training

Users new to the SI Template should ensure that they receive appropriate training in how to work with the SI Template. New user training is available through the contracted legislation publisher – TSO.

The course shows users how to get the most from the template to enable valid SIs to be submitted for registration and publication. These full day training sessions cover all aspects of using the template including:

  • downloading the template
  • stylistic requirements such as paragraphs, headings and schedules
  • headings, long quotes, paragraph and sub-paragraph numbering
  • inserting signature blocks
  • submitting SIs for validation

Training is provided for users of MS Word 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016.  Candidates must be proficient in using MS Word and its advanced functionality such as Styles, Tables, etc. to get the most out of the course.  This training course does not teach users how to draft SIs.

A limited number of free training courses are available and these are advertised by email to nominated  departmental representatives for cascading within their organisations. If you require further information regarding your Departmental representative please email publishing.legislation@nationalarchives.gov.uk.

Spaces on courses are limited and allocation is strictly on a first come, first serve basis. Due to increased demand, attendance is restricted to 2 people from any one Government department per session. You can email TSO to ask to be placed on the waiting list, and if spare places are available on a session, you will be notified.

For Departments that require a high number of candidates to be trained, Departments can also arrange to pay for SI Template Training. Please contact TSO to arrange departmental training courses.

Half-day refresher courses and bespoke training are also available. Please contact TSO for further information.
