Avoiding Registration Issues

Avoiding Common SI Registration Issues

There are a number of actions that users can take to minimise the likelihood of an SI being sent back for correction of registration check failures.

Working with the SI Template

If you are interacting with the SI document you should have the SI Template installed on your PC. Not having the SI Template installed could lead to the unintentional introduction of errors. Validate your SI every time you make changes.

Check Documents before Submitting

As early as possible, check that the Subject Headings for the SI are on approved headings on the Subject Headings List. If the heading used is not on the list contact the SI Registrar as soon as possible for advice.

Before submission, check your SI against the list of SI Registration checks and correct any defects. Be especially vigilant about inclusion and formatting of date ordinals, placement and formatting of footnotes and associated text references, and the inclusion of shoulder notes on schedules.

If there is a valid reason why your SI does not meet the standard registration criteria, then provide details of this in your comments to the SI Registrar when submitting the SI.

Ensure that you select the correct bundle type at Step 1 when submitting your SI and that you include all appropriate associated documents required for laying. All documents, including any associated documents, should have been reviewed and confirmed as final before submission.

Where user input is required during submission, ensure you read the information and help tips provided on the submission screens.

Resolving SI Registration Problems

Be aware that correcting some SI Registration failures is dependent on correct usage of the SI Template. For example if a footnote appears on the incorrect page, you cannot just insert a page break using normal word functionality, it must be inserted using the SI Template functionality for inserting a page break. If this is not done then the SI will not pass validation.

Where required and/or possible the SI Registration team will provide advice on how to fix a Registration error when returning the SI to the Department for correction.
