Charges for Corrected Reprints & Free of Charge Replacement Documents

If a defect in a printed instrument requires the substitution of a new instrument either with or without the same number, then a corrected reprint needs to be arranged.  The instrument will need to carry an appropriate headnote reflecting the reason for the new document and that it will be issued free of charge to all known recipients – please ensure that you have discussed this with the SI Registrar in advance.

The production of a corrected reprint incurs costs which need to be met by the Department.  These are:

  • £320.00 where the instrument is drafted using the SI Template and passes validation or £355.00 where the instrument has only low impact errors which the contracted Publisher is requested to correct. High impact errors must be fixed by the department.  These charges include one complimentary copy of the printed instrument for Departmental use.
  • Cost of reprinting and supplying copies of the printed instrument to all known recipients of the original instrument.  This is calculated based on the number of copies sold to customers by the Contracted legislation publisher which are charged at the Departmental Discount Cover Price as shown in the table in the Charges for Additional Print Copies section.  In addition the Department will be charged the current postage rate for each postal despatch to purchasers of the original instrument.

To ascertain what the costs of a corrective reprint will be, users should email the Publisher at publishing.billing@williamslea.com providing details of the original instrument (title, SI number if applicable and / or ISBN, and the number of pages in the replacement SI) stating that they wish to know what the cost would be for supplying copies as a corrected reprint.

Once a decision to go ahead with a corrected reprint is reached, the user should submit the document, with the appropriate "free of charge" headnote, to the SI Registrar for checking and onward publication.  For assistance with determining the appropriate headnote, please contact the SI Registrar.
