Terms & Conditions for using the SI Template

For Instruments to behave correctly in the validation, registration and publishing processes provided by the legislation.gov.uk Publishing Service, certain restrictions to how the template can be used are necessary. These include:

  • template features and styles need to be used in the manner specified in the User Manual;
  • the pre-defined template styles must not be altered;
  • non-template Microsoft Word styles cannot be created or used;
  • inappropriate style use cannot be corrected by using standard Microsoft Word formatting options such as changing font characteristics or applying or altering numbering.

Users must obtain appropriate training in SI Template usage.

Users are responsible for ensuring that they are using the most recent applicable template release for their version of Microsoft Word, please see “Version Control” .

It is the responsibility of the user to ensure that all content within an Instrument is correct and that best practice is followed in the drafting of the Instrument.

For non-standard or complex Instruments or where difficulties are experienced in using the template, users should contact the SI Support Team at the earliest opportunity.
