UK SI Toolbox

United Kingdom Statutory Instrument Toolbox

Statutory Instruments (SIs) are the most common form of subordinate legislation for the UK (also known as secondary or delegated legislation). More than 3,000 SIs are produced in the UK in a typical year.

UK SIs can have a number of associated documents, with Explanatory Memoranda and Impact Assessments being the most common type of associated documents. Associated documents are normally only published in electronic format alongside the SI on legislation.gov.uk.

The left-hand navigation menu provides an expandable and collapsible view of the pages available as well as access to the Toolboxes of other legislation jurisdictions. Where applicable, users are also presented with right-hand navigation to Related Pages.

Further information and Toolboxes for UK legislation and associated documents will be developed in association with the appropriate UK authorities. If you have any suggestions for improvements or additions to these pages, or notice a mistake, please email publishing.legislation@nationalarchives.gov.uk with details.
